If you have not heard Tron is making a comeback next year in a big way. As you would imagine the CG has improved a bit since the original movie came out in 1982. The visual effects look spectacular in this newly released teaser trailer for the film.
Jeff Bridges will return in his role as Kevin Flynn, while Garrett Hedlund will portray Flynn’s now-adult son, Sam.
Here is the film premise according to Slashfilm:
Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
Disney wants to make a big splash in promoting this film. They even decided to recreate Flynn’s Arcade in San Diego’s Gaslamp District base on the arcade in the original film for Comic-con. The arcade included about three dozen classic playable video games including Berzerk, Space, Invaders, Paperboy, Galaxian and Space Paranoids, the fictional arcade game from the original movie.
Hopefully some cool costumes will come out of the movie. Please ensure that the costumes don’t resemble this.
